On my initial sweep of the island (Japan Chubu in Second Life) I didn’t see much socializing; this might have been because I didn’t know where to look for inhabitants of this location.

What I did see was more important though. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of this island, I had traveled to about 10 worlds total and Japan has to be in my opinion the most welcoming and comfortable feeling location. The historically rendered bridges, rice fields, and bridges are just a few of the abundant sights to be had here on this island. With that being said, my favorite location to travel to is the immaculate Matsumoto Castle (watch the YouTube video by the designers). Many would argue that the castle is one of Japan’s finest historic castles. The Matsumoto Castle is in the center of Japan-Chubu and is apparently placed by the creators of our world as the highlight of the island. Equally fascinating to explore is not just the castle itself but also the property of the castle, decorated with gardens, gatehouses, and bridges.

It was on this property where I met my first inhabitant on the island and performed my first interview. At this point I hadn’t had a written script of questions to ask so I just took the opportunity as a practice interview. And I was glad I did, I learned a lot about the social aspects of the island. The interviewee informed me of a couple of general locations to go to learn more and talk to people willing to help me with my research,  also mentioning that these places to travel to were a sight to see. Once I began exploring the island I was able to observe the community around me and was very impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the social consciousness of….to be continued more later

The Harusaki Onsen: Japanese Spa

The Harusaki Onsen: Japanese Spa in Second LifeThe Harusaki Onsen Japanese Spa, located on Japan Chubu, is one of the most realistic Japanese outdoor spas that can be found in Second Life. People come to rest, relax and socialize in a typical Edo-period Japanese community and environment. Free bathwear is provided.

This was a very interesting experience on our island, i was even able to conduct an interview while in a hot tub!

Our Group’s interview questions are:

1.) Why do you come to this island? Do you visit this location often? If so, why do you return to this location?

2.)What about SecondLife do you prefer over other social media outlets? Why not just use FaceBook or other social media sites?

3.) What is your opinion of this location? Is this location of any importance to you or your culture?

4.) After your exposure to this location in SecondLife, would you consider visiting the actual location? If so, what about the location interests the most?
